| A seminar entitled ‘Introduction to Investment Banking and Portfolio Management Theories’ was organized by the Department of Finance on February 2, 2011 in AIUB Auditorium. Tanjil Chowdhury, Chief Executive Officer EC SECURITIES LIMITED was the key speaker. The seminar was a practical exposure for the students who are studying in the accounting & finance department in AIUB with special focus to the students who are taking investment & portfolio management course. The seminar enlightened the students to further understand the basic functions of the investment bank and to achieve a clearer understanding of the capital market of Bangladesh specially the share market.
The seminar was arranged and initiated by S.M. Arifuzzaman who teaches investment & portfolio management under Department of Finance, AIUB both at undergraduate and graduate level. Dr. Charles Villanueva, Professor and Dean Faculty of Business Administration delivered the welcome speech as the chief guest. He encouraged the students to relate their theoretical understanding of the subjects studied in AIUB with the contemporary practice in the Industry. Some faculty members of accounting & finance department also attended the seminar.
After the presentation, an open question and answer session took place. The questions raised by the students and faculty were responded with satisfaction and appreciation. Dr. Dulal Miah, Head of Department of Finance, AIUB delivered gave the vote of thanks to the speaker and to the all those who attended the seminar. AKM Matiur Rahman, Associate Professor and Associate Dean presented the Certificate of Appreciation to the key speaker while Dr. Charles Villanueva presented the VIP gift box to the speaker and concluded the seminar.
After the seminar a tea session was held in the Dean office and had a nice discussion on building the relationships between the university and the corporate world particularly that of the company represented by the guest speaker. |
