A seminar entitled: “The Importance of Technical and Fundamental Analysis in Investment Decision Making in Stock Exchange” was held on Sunday, August 13 2017 in AIUB Auditorium organized by the Department of Finance, FBA, AIUB. Mr. Mohammad Ali Xahangir, Managing Director and Mr. Asad Ul Islam, Instructor of Finavesta Technologies Ltd. were the key speakers of the Seminar. Mr. M. Taseen Chowdhury, Assistant Professor and Coordinator; Department of Finance, AIUB also facilitated the seminar as a resource person.

The seminar was dedicated for the BBA and MBA students of the ‘Investment Analysis and Portfolio Management’ course. It helped the students to understand the practical aspects of investment in capital market based on fundamental and technical analysis. The speakers of the seminar introduced ‘Amar Stock’ web site to the students and demonstrated how they could use the website for investment analysis. The speakers also showed how students could use the website to download data on capital market for the purpose of doing assignments and internship research. After the presentation, an open question-answer session was held where students asked specific questions on investment analysis, market timing and money management strategies.

At the end of the seminar, Mr. M. Taseen Chowdhury presented the Certificate of Appreciation to the guest speakers signed by Professor Dr. Nisar Ahmed, Director MBA Program and Professor Dr. Charles C. Villanueva, Pro Vice Chancellor & Dean, Faculty of Business Administration. The seminar motivated and encouraged students to relate their theoretical understanding of ‘Investment Analysis and Portfolio Management’ finance major course with the practical investment decision making process practiced by the decision makers in financial markets.
