A seminar entitled “International Auditing Standards” was organized by Department of Accounting on 5th December, 2010. Honorable Associate Dean of FBA, Dr. AKM Matiur Rahman delivered the welcome speech with his inspiring and motivational words. Mr. Ajit Kumar Paul ACA, Deputy Secretary, Government of Peoples Republic of Bangladesh was the guest speaker of this seminar. Dr. Ehsanul Huda Chowdhury, Director, BBA & MBA Program; Mr. Rashed Chowdhury, Head, Department of Marketing; Dr. Dulal Miah, Head, Department of Finance and many other faculty members were also present at the seminar.
Mr. Paul spoke about different issues regarding audit and its importance in today’s world. Based on his professional experience as a chartered accountant and working experience in different ministry of Bangladesh government, Mr. Paul enlighten the audience through sharing ideas and issues required to be addressed for better formulation of auditing standards. Besides International Standards on Auditing (ISA), Mr. Paul also describe standard setting procedure by IFAC, IAASB and Member Bodies (ICAB in Bangladesh), International Convergence, Surbane Oxlay Act, 2002, Code of Ethics by IFAC, fraud & error, risk assessment, where fraud is suspected, management representations and Reporting frauds or suspected frauds.
At the end of the seminar, the resource speaker was given a certificate of appreciation and some souvenirs. The event was coordinated and hosted by Ms. Samia Taranum Chowdhury, lecturer, Department of Accounting.
