The Department of Accounting, Faculty of Business Administration (FBA), organized a seminar titled “Impact of Telecommunication in Bangladesh Economy” on December 29, 2025. The session was conducted in media studio, with accounting major students as the primary beneficiaries.
The seminar featured Mohammed Kayum Sarker, General Manager & Head of Indirect Taxes in Grameenphone Ltd, as the resource person. As an accomplished finance and tax leader with over 19 years of experience in telecommunication industry, Mr Sarker shared his real-life experience about the taxation policies of this industry and how it has contributed to the overall GDP growth of our country. In addition, he highlighted some basic misconceptions about the pricing policies and other tax related facts of telecom companies with our audience.
Professor Anwar Hossain, Advisor and Dean in-charge of Faculty of Business Administration gave the welcome speech. Dr. Kamrul Hasan, Professor and Head, Department of Accounting, gave a vote of thanks and provided a certificate and Dr. Md. Sazzadur Rahman Khan (FCMA), Associate Professor, Department of Accounting presented a token gift to the key speaker.
The event was organized by Ms. Sanjida Akhtar CA (Singapore), ASA (CPA Australia), Lecturer, Department of Accounting. Other faculty members from the Department of Accounting and FBA were also present and actively contributed to the session through intellectual exchange with the speaker.
