The Department of Management Information Systems (MIS), Faculty of Business Administration (FBA) at American International University – Bangladesh (AIUB) organized a seminar titled "How Digital Platforms Generate Business Value: The Role of Data-Driven Decision Making" on 6th May 2026 at the Multipurpose Hall, Annex 7, from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM. The event was organized by Mr. Mehzabul Hoque Nahid and Khandakar Tahurul Islam. The Dean of FBA, Prof. Dr. Anwar Hossain, along with MIS faculty members Fatema Tuz Zahra and Jubayer Suhan, joined the session, while students from the MIS and Business Analytics majors as well as other BBA core courses attended in enthusiastic numbers.

The seminar featured Nasheed Ferdous Kamal, Former Country Head of Uber Bangladesh, as the resource person. A seasoned leader with over 18 years of experience spanning Marketing, Product & Pricing Strategy, New Business Development, Customer Lifecycle Management, Revenue, and Base Growth, she brings a rich and diverse industry background to the table. Her career in the telecom sector includes a significant tenure at Airtel Bangladesh, where she spearheaded marketing initiatives focused on usage, retention, and market share growth. She subsequently rose to the position of General Manager and Head of Customer Lifecycle Management (CLM) at Robi Axiata Limited, the second largest mobile operator in Bangladesh, where she oversaw a customer base of 54.5 million subscribers. At Robi, she led Airtel's Base Management and Customer Lifecycle Management operations across the region. Building on this deep telecom expertise, she transitioned into the mobility sector when Uber appointed her as Country Head for Uber Bangladesh in January 2024, a role in which she led one of the country's most prominent digital platforms. She is an alumna of the University of Windsor and North South University. She delivered a compelling presentation on how digital platforms have evolved beyond simple applications to become the operating systems of everyday life in Bangladesh's rapidly growing digital economy. one with over 83 million mobile wallets. Her talk centered on data-driven decision making, exploring how platforms collect, process, and act on data across mobility, fintech, e-commerce, and agritech to generate measurable business and social value. Real case studies brought the concepts to life from Uber Bangladesh generating BDT 55 billion in economic activity and saving 1.1 million commuter hours annually, to bKash disbursing BDT 5 billion in micro-loans to the previously unbanked by leveraging behavioral transaction data.

The seminar offered students a valuable opportunity to connect their academic knowledge in MIS and Business Analytics with real platform strategies operating in their own national context, reinforcing the central message of the session: that mining and leveraging data intelligently is the ultimate competitive advantage in the digital age.
