On 5^th September, 2016, IEEE Bangladesh Section Educational Activity Committee arranged a seminar titled “Higher Studies in Indian Institute of Technology (IIT)” in collaboration with the Indian High Commission at room 266, Faculty of Engineering building, AIUB. The seminar was organized to enlighten the students those who are either about to finish their bachelor’s or their master’s degree and wants to study in one of the 22 IITs.

The event began with the opening speech from Prof. Dr. A.B.M. Siddique Hossain, Dean, Faculty of Engineering, AIUB. After his insightful remarks, the session began with a small speech by Kishore Chatterjee, Professor, Department of Electrical Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology Bombay; Chairperson, GATE, JAM 2017, who later handed over the mic to Dr. Mukesh Chatterjee,  Professor, Department of Civil Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur. During the event Dr. Mukesh Chatterjee gave an informative presentation regarding the details involved for the admission into the IIT, the many different IITs located throughout the country, how each of them vary from one another and what are the benefits of joining IIT.

After the informative sessions from Dr. Mukesh Chatterjee, a quick question and answer session took place between the delegates from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) and the attendees. Later after that quick session, Dr. Md. Abdur Rahman, Educational Activity Coordinator, IEEE Bangladesh Section; Director and Associate Professor, Faculty of Engineering, AIUB, took the stage and gave a motivating closing remarks. After that, Prof. Dr. A.B.M. Siddique Hossain took the stage and gave the token of appreciation to all the delegates from the Indian Institute of Technology and then officially bringing end to the event by taking a group photo.

The seminar was made successful thanks to IEEE Bangladesh Section Educational Activity Committee, the Indian High Commission and the Department of EEE, COE and CSE, AIUB. The event was graced by Prof. Dr. A.B.M. Siddique Hossain, Dean, Faculty of Engineering, AIUB; Dr. Md. Abdur Rahman, Educational Activity Coordinator, IEEE Bangladesh Section; Director and Associate Professor, Faculty of Engineering, AIUB; Dr. Mashiour Rahman, Director and Senior Assistant Professor, Faculty of Computer Science, AIUB; Dr. Md. Abdul Mannan, Head of the Undergraduate Program and Associate Professor, Faculty of Engineering, AIUB ; Dr. Dip Nandi, Senior Assistant Professor and Head of the Undergraduate Program, Faculty of Computer Science, AIUB; Dr. M Tanseer Ali, Counselor, IEEE AIUB Student Branch; along with 20 other faculty members; all the delegates from Indian Institute of Technology, namely Kishore Chatterjee, Mukesh Sharma, Biplab Mondal and Nalin Bharti; and also thanks to the participants from Ahsanullah University of Science and Technology (AUST), Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET), BRAC University, Islamic University of Technology (IUT) and Stamford University attending the event.
