The Department of Accounting at the Faculty of Business Administration, American International University-Bangladesh (AIUB), successfully organized a seminar titled “Guiding Tomorrow’s Accounting Professionals: The Importance of Career Direction” to inspire and guide students towards a purposeful and rewarding career in the field of accounting. The event was held in a vibrant and engaging setting, attended by students, faculty members, and distinguished guests from both academia and the professional accounting community on Monday, 26 May 2025.

Prof. Dr. Anwar Hossain, Advisor and Dean-in-Charge, Faculty of Business Administration, AIUB, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. In his address, he emphasized the importance of early career planning and the role of education in building ethical and competent accounting professionals who can contribute meaningfully to the nation's economic growth.

The seminar featured Mr. Mohammed Jahangir Alam FCMA, Council Member of the Institute of Cost and Management Accountants of Bangladesh (ICMAB), as the Keynote Speaker. In his insightful presentation, Mr. Alam highlighted the evolving landscape of the accounting profession, the critical need for skill development, and the vast career opportunities available for accounting graduates both locally and internationally. He encouraged students to pursue professional qualifications alongside their academic degrees and to remain updated with global trends in financial reporting and management accounting.

The event was moderated by Prof. Dr. Kamrul Hasan, Head of the Department of Accounting, AIUB, and Dr. Md. Sazzadur Rahman FCMA, Associate Professor, Department of Accounting, AIUB. They steered the discussion to ensure valuable engagement between students and speakers, while also sharing their own perspectives on the future of the accounting profession.

The seminar was further enriched by the presence of several notable attendees, including Mr. Roomee Tareque Moudud, FCMA, Director, Office of Placement & Alumni (OPA), AIUB, Mr. Niaz Mohammad, ACMA, Assistant Professor, AIUB, Ms. Sanjida Aktar, Lecturer, AIUB, Mr. Md. Abdul Maleque, Additional Director, ICMAB.

Their presence and contributions added depth to the discussions, reflecting a shared commitment to nurturing future leaders in accounting.

The seminar concluded with an interactive Q&A session, where students expressed their enthusiasm and sought guidance on career planning, professional certification, and industry expectations. The event successfully met its objective of providing students with direction, motivation, and practical insights into shaping their careers in accounting.

This initiative reaffirmed AIUB’s commitment to producing competent, ethical, and industry-ready graduates through academic excellence and professional collaboration.
