On Wednesday, May 21, 2025, the University’s Office of Placement & Alumni (OPA) and the Faculty of Business Administration (FBA) jointly organized a seminar titled “Governance to Promote Sustainable Growth in the Capital Market in Bangladesh”. The event brought together industry leaders and students to discuss the pivotal role of governance in ensuring the long-term development and resilience of Bangladesh’s capital markets. The seminar featured two distinguished guest speakers, namely, Mr. Tanzim Alamgir, Managing Director and CEO, UCB Investment Limited and Mr. Galib Nakib Rahman, Senior Executive, Corporate Governance and Financial Reporting Compliance Department, Regulatory Affairs Division, Dhaka Stock Exchange Ltd. Mr. Tanzim Alamgir is an alumnus of AIUB.
The guests were introduced by the Director Office of Placement and Alumni (OPA) Mr. R. Tareque Moudud FCMA who welcomed them to the program.
Mr. Tanzim Alamgir shared his extensive expertise in investment banking and market development, emphasizing the importance of ethical leadership, innovative financial instruments, and responsible investing in driving sustainable growth. His insights on private sector governance and the role of institutional investors provided valuable perspectives on improving corporate transparency and investor confidence in Bangladesh’s capital market.
Mr. Galib Nakib Rahman addressed the regulatory dimensions of governance, focusing on compliance, financial reporting standards, and the Dhaka Stock Exchange’s efforts in strengthening corporate governance frameworks. He also discussed the significance of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) integration, sustainable disclosures, and regulatory reforms in enhancing market integrity and resilience.
The event was attended by a vibrant audience of students, who punctuated the session with their questions. It served as an excellent opportunity for AIUB students to engage directly with key stakeholders in the financial sector, deepening their understanding of the evolving landscape of the country’s capital market.
