The Department of Management Information System (MIS) of Faculty of Business Administration, American International University-Bangladesh (AIUB), organized a seminar titled “Empowering Businesses with Cloud-ERP” on August 8, 2023, in the Multipurpose Hall, D Building at 10:30AM with Mr. Shama-e Zaheer, Chairman, Mir Info Systems Ltd. as the keynote speaker. Mr. Shama-e Zaheer began his career as a faculty member at the Institute of Business Administration, University of Dhaka. Alongside Mir Info Systems Ltd., Mr. Shama-e Zaheer is the Chairman of the Mir Group of Industries (Mir Cement Ltd., Mir Concrete Products Ltd., Mir Real Estate Ltd., etc.) and COO of Mir Akhter Hossain Ltd. In his capacity as Chairman of Mir Info Systems Limited, Mr. Shama-e Zaheer coordinates the strategic efforts of the company that operates in tech development, communications infrastructure, and cloud services. He is actively involved in product idea generation and design, in areas of ERP, and AI solutions, as well as various end-user use-case-based app development.

The guest speaker, Mr. Shama-e Zaheer, was introduced by Ms. Nazia Farhana, Assistant Professor, Department of MIS. He began his speech with the introduction of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software. ERP is a tool for firms to accommodate the utilization of technology in the corporate sector to achieve operational excellence, automate business processes, and enhance their decision support process. Apart from the breakdown of the ERP software, Mr. Zaheer also introduced the concept of cloud ERP and its benefits. He also elaborated on the challenges faced by organizations in implementing ERP software. The highly interactive seminar presented the audience with knowledge on how ERP makes it easier to collect, organize, analyze, and distribute information to every individual and system that needs it to best fulfill their role and responsibility.  At the end of the seminar a probable capstone project idea with Mir Group of Industries was conceptualized, that will allow students to demonstrate the knowledge and skills gained in course curriculum in the context of a medium-sized R&D project. Empowering Businesses with Cloud-ERP supports SDG 9: Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure. Building robust infrastructure, encouraging environmentally responsible industry, and encouraging innovative thinking are the three aims of SDG 9.

Mr. Danilo G. Morgia, Director, IT Operations, expressed the vote of thanks. In his short message, he thanked the resource person – Mr. Shama-e Zaheer for taking his precious time to come and visit AIUB. On behalf of the students, faculty and audience, he conveyed deep gratitude & thanks to the guest speaker. Later Mr. Danilo G. Morgia and Mr. Mehzabul Hoque Nahid, Head, Department of Management Information System, handed over a token of appreciation along with a gift to the honorable guest speaker of the seminar. Faculty members from different departments of FBA graced the event with their presences.
