Seminar on "DIABETES IN SOUTHEAST ASIA: AN EMERGING PUBLIC HEALTH PROBLEM"

On 21st November 2009 at 7:00 pm, a seminar was held at the auditorium of American International University-Bangladesh (AIUB) on “Diabetes in South East Asia: An Emerging Public Health Problem”. Public Health specialist Dr. Md. Abdur Rahim, Ph.D. was the key note speaker of the seminar. The seminar was presided over by Dr. Anwarul Abedin, Founder Chairman, Board of Trustees, AIUB. Dr. Charles C. Villanueva, Dean, Faculty of Arts and Social Science delivered the welcome address. Dr. Md. Nazrul Islam Faculty, Department of MPH introduced the guest speaker Dr. Md. Abdur Rahim. The discussion of the speaker included Introduction to Diabetes, Global Scenario of Diabetes, Diabetes in South-East Asia, Economic Impact of Diabetes, why Diabetes Epidemic in South-East Asia, Diabetes Care etc. After the presentation, an open question and answer session took place. Dr. Anwarul Abedin concluded the session with his valuable comments. Dr. Anwarul Abedin and Dr. Charles C. Villanueva presented the Certificate of Appreciation and Souvenir Items and at the end he concluded the seminar with his message.
