SEMINAR ON: “CHILD AND YOUTH FINANCING IN BANGLADESH”

On April 2, 2017, a seminar titled ‘Child and Youth Financing in Bangladesh’ was organized by the Department of Accounting and Finance of American International University- Bangladesh to encourage students to start saving money at young age. The target audience were the students of the Taxation course. The resource person of the seminar was Mr. Rene Cuartero, Network Advisory Manager, Child and Youth Finance International, Amsterdam, Netherland. Mr. Mohammad Faridul Alam, Head, Department of Accounting and Finance; Mr. Roomee Tareque Moudud, Assistant Professor and Director - OPA, Department of Accounting; and Mr. Rezwanul Mumtahin Husain, Lecturer, Department of Accounting were present at the seminar.

The main objective of the seminar was to provide knowledge of fighting poverty by learning how to manage and handle money. The resource speaker encouraged students in joining initiatives taken by Child and Youth Finance International like Global Money Week, School Bank, and Ye! Community. The speaker also highlighted on some key issues that students need to be accustomed with and he also pointed out some skills that will help them to earn a Global Inclusion Award, an initiative of Child and Youth Finance International. The students were highly enthusiastic after learning such aspects from the expert. The session ended with an interactive question and answer session.

At the end of the seminar, Mr. Mohammad Faridul Alam, Head, Department of Accounting and Finance, expressed his vote of thanks to the guest speaker and presented him with a certificate of appreciation along with a gift pack as a token of gratitude with the presence of other faculty members. The event was coordinated by Mr. Roomee Tareque Moudud, Assistant Professor and Director - OPA, Department of Accounting and Mr. Rezwanul Mumtahin Husain, Lecturer, Department of Accounting, Faculty of Business Administration. The Guest Speaker has also shared his views with Prof. Dr. Charles C. Villanueva, Pro VC and Dean, FBA.
