Seminar on: “Banking as a Profession: Prospects and Challenges”

The Department of Accounting & Finance of American International University-Bangladesh organized a seminar on “Banking as a Profession: Prospects and Challenges” on 23rd March 2017. The target audience of the seminar was the students of Bank Fund Management, Financial Institutions and Markets and Investment and Portfolio Management. The seminar was conducted to provide the students an idea about choosing the Banking Sector as their career. The resource person of the seminar was Mr.  Mahbubul Islam Mazumder, Director and Head of Implementation and Client Management, Standard Chartered Bank Limited, Bangladesh.  Professor Dr. Charles C. Villanueva, Pro Vice Chancellor & Dean, Faculty of Business Administration; Professor Dr. Nisar Ahmed, Director, MBA Program; Mr. Mohammad Faridul Alam, Head, Department of Accounting and Finance; and many other faculty members were also present at the seminar.

The seminar started with an interesting story from the speaker. The resource person provided various real life examples to students and gave them an idea about choosing the Banking Profession. Being an expert in his field, he narrated various incidents to portray the real picture of this sector for the students. He has not only discussed about the various prospects but also demonstrated the challenges that can arise and how to manage those. It was an interactive session where both the speaker and students asked questions to each other and the questions were answered suitably.

At the end of the seminar, Prof. Dr. Charles C. Villanueva, Pro Vice Chancellor and Dean of FBA, concluded the session encouraging the effectiveness of such seminar and also handed over  a certificate of appreciation to the resource speaker. Professor Dr. Nisar Ahmed, Director, MBA Program presented the souvenir to the resource speaker from the university. The event was coordinated by Mrs. Bohi Shajahan, Assistant Professor, Department of Finance, Faculty of Business Administration.
