On August 14, 2023, a seminar entitled “Accounting Information for decision making- opportunities & challenges” was organized by the Department of Accounting to give the students an opportunity to enrich their knowledge regarding the influence of Accounting Information in order to make business decision. The seminar was arranged by Ms. Sazia Afrin, Assistant Professor, Department of Accounting, Faculty of Business Administration, AIUB. The main objective of this seminar is to provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of how accounting information can be utilized to make informed business decisions and to explore the various opportunities and challenges associated with using accounting information effectively in decision making. This seminar was facilitated by Ms. Shahida Akter, who is an Associate Member (ACA) of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Bangladesh (ICAB), having more than 2.5 years of working experience in Corporate. Currently, she is working in Robi Axiata Limited as Manager, Financial Accounting and Management Reporting. She has more than 6 years of working experience in KPMG Bangladesh. Her last position in KPMG Bangladesh was Manager, Audit and Advisory Services. Academically, she completed his BBA and MBA majoring in Accounting and Information System from the University of Dhaka. She has talked about how the various techniques and tools is used for analyzing accounting information and translating it into meaningful insights for decision making. She has fostered a collaborative learning environment where participants can exchange ideas, experiences, and best practices related to accounting information and decision making. Overall, this seminar helps to equip participants with the necessary knowledge and skills to leverage accounting information as a valuable resource for making sound and informed decisions in their organizations. The objective of this colloquium is harmoniously aligned with the Sustainable Development Goal of ensuring quality education (SDG 4) and Decent Work and Economic Growth (SDG 8).
