SEMINAR ON: A MARKET WITHOUT BROKERS
On June 5, 2014 a seminar titled ‘A Market without Brokers’ was organized by the Department of Accounting to explain the need and value of brokers as intermediaries to trade shares at the Stock Exchanges. The seminar was arranged by Ms. Nafeesa Tabassum, faculty, Department of Accounting, Faculty of Business Administration. A team of three members from Strategic Sales Team joined us on behalf of Brac EPL Brokerage Ltd. The resource speakers were Mr. Md. Nazmul Hasan Chowdhury, Deputy Manager, Corporate Trade & Sales; Foyej Ahmed Khan, Senior Executive, Corporate Trade & Sales and Mr. Saleh Chowdhury, Assistant Manager, Strategic Sales of Brac EPL Stock Brokerage Ltd. The Main Speaker Mr. Saleh’s lively, enthusiast, inspiring and interactive presentation made the session a very dynamic one. Question and Answer session has been adequately handled by all the guest speakers. The seminar mainly viewed the value of Broker in the world of Stock Exchange, why do we need brokerage houses to trade share, the role of an exchange, limitations of direct trade with the market participants and what kind of people work at the brokerage houses in our country. The seminar was very informative and helpful for the students to understand overall process of Brokerage houses.Pro-Vice Chancellor and Dean, Faculty of Business Administration, Prof. Dr. Charles C. Villanueva spoke on the seminar topic and welcomed the Brac EPL Team. Mr. R. Tareque Moudud FCMA, Director, Office of Placement & Alumni, Dr. Dulal, Head, Department of Finance, Mr. Md. Zakaria Masud, Head, Department of Accounting, Mr. Rashedul Hassan, Asst. Prof., Department of Accounting along with other faculty members was present during the session. The seminar ended with a thanks note by Mr. Md. Zakaria Masud. Mr. Masud has also handed over a certificate of appreciation and token gifts to all of the three resource speakers on behalf of AIUB management.
