Seminar: Introduction to Huawei ICT Academy

On 21 March 2023, the department of Management Information System at American International University-Bangladesh (AIUB) hosted a seminar titled "Introduction to Huawei ICT Academy." The session began at 12:00 p.m. in the Multipurpose Hall, D-Building, level 10 at AIUB with approximately 300 participants. Ms. Nazia Farhana (Assistant Professor, Dept of MIS) delivered the program's introductory remarks.   She informed AIUB students and faculty about the benefits they will receive as a result of the Memorandum of Understanding between AIUB and Huawei ICT academy, as well as how this partnership will facilitate the country's ICT ecosystem and create opportunities for students by enhancing their industry-oriented knowledge and ICT skills.  Mr. Zhang Cheng (Director of South Asia Enterprise Partner Development and Management, Huawei Technologies Bangladesh Limited), the keynote speaker of this seminar, discussed several ways in which students can benefit from the program, including industry-relevant curriculum, hands-on training, certification, industry connections, and global recognition. AIUB students will have access to an enriched online learning platform with a variety of courses. In addition, he described how the ICT-Academy's lab exercises and projects will enable students to implement the theoretical concepts they learn in a real-world context. He informed students about the opportunities Huawei offers university graduates through their ICT Academy to interact with industry professionals through events, apprenticeships, and job fairs that help students acquire industry knowledge and create professional networks.  Mr. Mehzab. H. Nahid (Assistant Professor, Dept of MIS) thanked Huawei for their contribution to the ICT ecosystem of Bangladesh by providing industry-relevant curriculum designed to meet the demands of the ICT industry. This curriculum will provide students with knowledge and skills in various fields, including networking, cloud computing, cybersecurity, and artificial intelligence. In addition, he commended them for offering a globally recognized program that gives students an advantage on the local and global job markets. Mr. Danilo G. Morgia (Director, IT Operations, AIUB) concluded the seminar by expressing appreciation to the presenters. Later, he and Mr. Obaidul Islam [Sr.] (senior faculty member, FBA) presented mementos of appreciation to Huawei's distinguished guest. Dr. Mohammad Faridul Alam, Dr. Khondaker Sazzadul Karim, Ms. Tamanna Nazneen Rahman, Dr. Rezbin Nahar and Mr. Edul Hasan Mithun (Partner Operations Manager, Huawei Technologies Bangladesh Limited) were also present.
