The Center for Nanotechnology Research (CNR) at American International University-Bangladesh (AIUB), in association with the AIUB Research and Development Club (AIUBR&DC), organized a seminar titled “Research, Publications, International Collaboration, and Higher Studies in the Area of Advanced Materials & Energy Technology.” The Office of Student Affairs (OSA), AIUB, facilitated the event by providing the necessary logistical support and cooperation.
The seminar began with a welcome speech delivered by Prof. Dr. S. Mosaddeq Ahmed, Head of the Department of Chemistry, AIUB. The keynote speaker, Prof. Dr. Saidur Rahman, Distinguished Research Professor and Head of the Research Centre for Nano-Materials and Energy Technology at Sunway University, Malaysia, is a leading expert in Advanced Materials and Energy Technology and has been recognized among the World’s Top 1% Scientists.
During the seminar, Prof. Rahman discussed various prospects and opportunities for conducting high-quality research. He explained critical aspects of research paper writing and the publication of research findings in high-impact journals. He also highlighted the benefits and significance of international academic collaboration and presented numerous funding opportunities for higher studies in Advanced Materials and Energy Technology.
Prof. Rahman particularly emphasized the development of smart nanomaterials for energy-storage devices, photovoltaic (PV) cells, and supercapacitors. He also stressed the importance of selecting research topics that are relevant to industrial needs and have potential for practical applications. In addition, he critically discussed several major challenges commonly encountered in research involving advanced materials and energy technologies.
A remarkable number of students and faculty members from various departments attended the seminar. The participants, particularly engineering students, actively engaged with the lecture, participated in the question-and-answer session, and gained valuable real-world insights into research excellence, publication strategies, academic networking, international collaboration, and career development in academia and industry. The successful organization of the seminar reflects AIUB’s continued commitment to promoting research excellence and academic development among its students and faculty members.
Following the seminar, Prof. Dr. Saidur Rahman visited the Center for Nanotechnology Research (CNR) at AIUB. During the visit, he expressed his appreciation for the laboratory facilities, ongoing research activities, and several funded research projects being conducted at the Center. Prof. Dr. Mohammad Mahbub Rabbani, In-Charge of the Center for Nanotechnology Research, along with research team members Dr. Md. Sarowar Hossain, Dr. Saiful Islam, and research students of the Center, were present during his visit.
Prof. Rahman expressed his keen interest in establishing formal collaboration between Sunway University and AIUB and proposed exploring the possibility of signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to facilitate collaborative research activities in advanced materials and energy technology. Before leaving AIUB, Prof. Dr. Saidur Rahman met with the honorable VC of AIUB, Prof. Dr. Saiful Islam, and reiterated his interest in signing an MoU and initiating collaborative research activities between the two institutions.
The seminar and subsequent visit marked a significant step toward strengthening academic and research collaboration between AIUB and leading international institutions in the fields of nanotechnology, advanced materials, renewable energy, and energy-storage technologies.
