ROBI AXIATA PARTNERS WITH AIUB ON STUDENT INTERNSHIP PROGRAM
The university’s student internship program gets another boost when Robi Axiata Limited, a progressive Telecom Company in Bangladesh forged an agreement with the American International University-Bangladesh. The increasing number of student interns in different disciplines like business, computer/information technology, engineering, arts and social sciences of AIUB will be hastened with this significant partnership. The signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was held in AIUB with the Vice President for HR, Administration and Treasury, Dr. Hasanul A. Hasan representing AIUB and Mr. Matiul Islam Nowshad, Chief Human Resources Officer of Robi. The event was witnessed by the Honorable Vice Chancellor of AIUB, Dr. Carmen Z. Lamagna; the Dean of the Faculty of Business Administration, Prof. Dr. Charles C. Villanueva; the Director of Placement and Alumni, Mr. Roomee Tareque and, the Director of PR, Legal and International Affairs, Mr. Md Lutfor Rahman. Also present in this event are the Deans of the Faculty of Science and Faculty of Engineering, Asso. Dean, the Directors, the Department Heads and faculty members. The Robi Axiata is represented by its top management personalities such as the Vice President for Organizational Development, Rizwan Hamid Quraishi; Vice President for Competence Development, Mr. Tauhidul Alam, the Vice President for Employee Relations, Mr. Faisal Khan, Vice president for Human Resource Operations, Mr. Farhad Mahbub and General Manager for Resourcing, Ms. Sharmain Sultan and the Manger for Media and Public Relation, Mr. Mubasser Anwer Ajmee. The agreement provides mutual benefits and development opportunities for both the organizations. The student interns of AIUB will be the primary beneficiaries of both the technical and experiential know-how while on the job training with Robi. Their capacities will be honed and enhanced as they start applying their academic knowledge acquired from the university under the closed supervision of the officers designated by Robi and assigned faculty supervisor from AIUB. In this way, the professionalism, the interpersonal relation and employability value of the students will be improved. Both parties have expressed optimism that the agreement will prosper and the scope will be expanded to cover other development areas of the two organizations such as human resource development, collaborative research and consultancy services.
