Revised Semester Plan effective from Spring 22-23 Semester [updated on 10 January 2023]

As per the guideline and instruction of the University Grants Commission (UGC) of Bangladesh to revise the Academic Calendar of the American International University – Bangladesh (AIUB), upon the recommendation of the Academic Council of AIUB, the following Academic Calendar format has been approved in the Syndicate Meeting held on Saturday, January 7, 2023.

There will be 2 (two) regular semesters – Fall and Spring, and 1 (one) optional semester – Summer in an Academic Year of AIUB effective from Spring 2022-2023 semester. The academic calendar will be published soon.

The detail information is as follows:

Class Hour, Lab Hour, Minimum Credit Enrollment:

[Regular Semester] Fall Semester and Spring Semester	Total: 17 Weeks Class Hour: 3 Credit Courses: 1H 15M per day X 2 Days per week 2 Credit Courses: 1H 40M per day X 1 Day per week 1 Credit Courses: 50M per day X 1 Day per week Laboratory: 2H 30M per day Minimum Credit enrollment (undergraduate): 15 (to confirm registration) 18 (For scholarship, academic award, waiver, any sort of tuition fee grant recipients) Minimum Credit enrollment (graduate): 9 (for job holders, subject to submission of original job certificate, will not receive alumni waiver) 12 (for job holders, subject to submission of original job certificate, will receive alumni waiver, will not be entitled for academic award and academic scholarship) 15 (For scholarship, academic award, waiver, any sort of tuition fee grant recipients) * Effective from Spring 2022-23, the above minimum credit policy is applicable for existing scholarship/ grant recipients and also for new applicants.
[Optional Semester] Summer Semester	Total: 10 Weeks Class Hour: 3 Credit Courses: 2H 15M per day X 2 Days per week 2 Credit Courses: 1H 30M per day X 2 Days per week 1 Credit Courses: 1H 30M per day X 1 Day per week Laboratory: 2H 15 per day X 2 Days per week Minimum Credit enrollment (undergraduate/ graduate): 6 Registration is optional for summer semester. It will not affect the scholarship/ academic award. But if a student registers in Summer semester, the minimum credit enrollment is 6 and other existing relevant policies will be applicable for scholarship/ academic award. * Effective from Spring 2022-23, the above minimum credit policy is applicable for existing scholarship/ grant recipients and also for new applicants.
