AIUB Community of Engineering Students (ACES) conducted a seminar entitled as “Project and Thesis: Impact and Inception- An alumni experience” at Room No.266, Building 2, Faculty of Engineering, American International University-Bangladesh (AIUB). Two AIUB alumni, Mr. Safayet Ahmed (Chancellor’s Award winner at the 15^th convocation of AIUB and member of the 2^nd placed project & thesis group of the year 2014) and Mr.Md. Abdur Rahman Nayem (Member of the 4^th placed project & thesis group of the year 2014) were the guest speakers in the seminar. The objective of the seminar was to make the students more familiar with the aspects of project & thesis.

Prof. Dr. A.B.M. Siddique Hossain (Dean, Faculty of Engineering, AIUB) gave the opening speech where he suggested the students, to be well informed about all the information related to project & thesis and choose the area of research according to their interest. The first speaker, Mr. Safayet Ahmed, commenced his presentation by greeting everyone and displaying an inspirational quotation. His slides consisted of factual and instructive materials which would assist the participants to select the topic of project & thesis. It included the arguments of choosing the particular topic, the problems he faced while doing the project and how he sorted it out. His speech contained directions specifying the topic and initial preparations required before starting the project or thesis. He mentioned the recognitions and awards he received for his excellent project. Then, the next speaker, Mr. Md. Abdur Rahman Nayem, at the very beginning, asked the students those who are interested in doing thesis, to make a habit of reading. “Read, Read and Read”, this was the tag line statement for emphasizing on the importance of reading habit. He suggested to distribute the work of the thesis amongst the group members properly so that the pressure of the work would be eased and the respective works of the fellow members would be more accurate and specific. He also stated how he had chosen his thesis topic. He also discussed how he solved the problems that he had confronted while doing his thesis.

At the very end, Dr. Md. Abdul Mannan (Head, UG Program & Associate Professor, Department of EEE, AIUB), delivered the closing speech where he stated the significance of a seminar of this magnitude and thanked ACES for organizing such an effective seminar . He then handed over the gift vouchers and certificates to the speakers. The seminar was graced by the presence of Mr. Md. Saniat Rahman Zishan (Assistant Professor, Department of EEE & Special Assistant, OSA, AIUB), Mr. Sayed Muhammad Baker (Lecturer, Department of EEE, AIUB & Motivator, ACES), Ms. Shahreen Hassan (Lecturer, Department of EEE, AIUB & Motivator, ACES), Ms. Tasnuva Tasneem (Lecturer, Department of EEE, AIUB), Mr. Shahriar Hasan (Lecturer, Department of EEE, AIUB), Mr. Md. Sajid Hossain (Lecturer, Department of EEE, AIUB) , Ms. Tajbia Karim (Lecturer, Department of EEE, AIUB) and Mr. Kazi Ahmed Asif Fuad (Teaching Assistant, Department of EEE, AIUB).
