Progress Sharing Seminar (Phase 1) of AIUB Funded Projects: FRC, FASS

A Progress Sharing Seminar on Phase One of selected AIUB-funded research projects was held on 8 January 2026 at 10:00 a.m. at the FASS Meeting Room, American International University–Bangladesh. The seminar was organized to review the progress of ongoing research projects and to evaluate their readiness for the next phase.

 

Two projects were presented during the seminar. The first project, titled “Indigenous Women-led Climate Change Resilience and Disaster Management: A Decolonial Perspective from the Garo Community in Bangladesh” (Grant No. AIUB-FASS-25-03-01), is being conducted under the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences (FASS), Department of Social Science. The project is led by Dr. Arifatul Kibria as Principal Investigator, with Dr. Buddhadev Biswas and Shaira Matin as Co-Investigators.

 

The second project, titled “Dietary Inflammatory Index: An Assessment of Dietary Habit and the Potential Risks of Non-Communicable Diseases in Young Adult Students of Dhaka, Bangladesh” (Grant No. AIUB-FHLS-25-03-01), is being carried out under the Faculty of Health and Life Sciences (FHLS), Department of Public Health. The project is led by Dr. Sabuktagin Rahman as Principal Investigator, with Dr. Iffat Tasnim Haque and Tasnia Jannat serving as Co-Investigators.

 

The seminar was attended by members of the Faculty Research Committee (FRC), chaired by Prof. Dr. Tazul Islam, Dean, FASS and FRC Lead. Other members present included Dr. Md. Asif Kamal, Dr. Muhammad Wasiful Alam, Dr. Buddhadev Biswas, Dr. Faria Sultana, Mr. M. Hamidul Haque, Dr. Robayet Ferdous Syed, and Ms. Rani Ellen V. Ramos.

 

Following detailed presentations and discussions, the FRC members expressed satisfaction with the progress achieved in Phase One of both projects. Based on the evaluations and recommendations, both projects were formally approved by the Faculty Research Committee for advancement to the next phase.
 

The Seminar was organized and conducted by Prof. Dr. Md. Asif Kamal, Member, Research and Publication Steering Committee (RPSC), Office of Research and Representative, Faculty Research Committee (FRC), Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences.
