PRIZE GIVING CEREMONY OF POSTER DESIGN COMPETITION HELD AT ARCHITECTURE DEPARTMENT
The event was also attended by the Pro-Vice Chancellor and Dean of Business Administration Faculty Dr. Charles C. Villanueva; Dean of Engineering Faculty Dr. ABM Siddique Hossain; Dean of Arts & Social Sciences Faculty Dr. Tazul Islam; Associate Dean of Business Faculty Dr. Ehsan Uddin Ahmed; Director of Engineering faculty Dr. Abdur Rahman; Director of Computer Science Mr. Mashiour Rahman; Director of Students Affairs Mr. Manzur H. Khan; Head of Chemistry Department Dr. S. Mosaddeq Ahmed, teachers of Architecture Department, participants of the competition and general students.
The brief event started with an introduction by the Coordinator of Architecture Department M. Arefeen Ibrahim, who thanked the audience for being there and praised the students for taking part in the competition. Out of some 40 entries, 16 were selected to be exhibited and among these three were awarded with 1st, 2nd and 3rd prizes along with an additional entry with honorable mention. Mr. Ibrahim proposed that the Poster Competition might be turned into a regular event at AIUB to celebrate International Mother Language Day every year and Honorable VC madam was kind enough to approve the proposal amidst cheers of the audience.
Later the respected Pro Vice Chancellor and Deans delivered short speeches narrating importance of participating in similar competitions and developing skills for future. They also thanked the Architecture Department for taking initiative to arrange such a competition in the university. They witnessed the exhibited posters and praised the quality of student work.
Honorable Vice Chancellor Dr. Carmen Z. Lamagna then delivered her speech and inspired the students to participate spontaneously in similar events in future. She spoke about the importance of discipline in academic life. She also assured of continuous support to promote similar events for the benefit of students.
Finally came the moment to announce the names of the winners for Prize giving. Mr. Arefeen Ibrahim announced the names one by one and the winners received their award along with certificate from the Honorable Vice Chancellor madam. The event ended with a thank you note from Mr. Ibrahim.
