On January 8, 2026, the Departments of Management Information Systems and Human Resource Management within the Faculty of Business Administration at the American International University - Bangladesh (AIUB) organized a Poster Presentation on A Sustainable Development Planning Framework for Bangladesh. The event, held from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Open Terrace between Annex 3 and Annex 2 (level 2) on the AIUB campus, featured by BBA students enrolled in the “Ethics, Sustainability, and Communication for Development” course. Participants presented detailed posters analyzing sustainable development frameworks for specific districts, including Khulna, Narayanganj, Sylhet, Gazipur, Bagherhat, Jashore, Comilla, and Bhola. Each presentation systematically integrated four critical analytical dimensions: Business and Sustainability Integration, Socio-Cultural Context, Geographic and Economic Context, and Environmental and Soil Context. Students elucidated their research to a panel of judges, faculty members, and guests, demonstrating the application of theoretical principles to complex regional planning scenarios within the nation.

The event concluded with a prize-giving ceremony inaugurated by Dr. Rezbin Nahar, Director of the BBA Program at FBA, AIUB. In her opening remarks, she outlined the project’s primary educational objectives: to enable students to comprehend sustainable development principles within a real-world context; to apply integrated business, environmental, and social sustainability concepts to a defined geographic area; and to cultivate strategic planning, analytical thinking, and visual communication competencies through the medium of academic poster design. Following this, a vote of thanks was delivered by Professor Anwar Hossain, Advisor and Dean in-Charge of FBA, AIUB, who extended gratitude to the event coordinators—Mehzabul Hoque Nahid, Head of the Department of MIS, and Fatema Tuz Zahra, Lecturer in the Department of MIS—as well as to the participants and judges, Farzan Mitu from the Department of Marketing and Saeeda Tajrian from the Department of Accounting.

This academic exercise made direct contributions to several United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). It supported SDG 4 (Quality Education) by providing an innovative, project-based learning platform that enhanced practical, interdisciplinary understanding of sustainability. The students’ analyses of district-level Business and Sustainability Integration, particularly for industrial regions like Gazipur and Narayanganj, offered insights into promoting sustained, inclusive economic growth, thereby aligning with SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth). Furthermore, the detailed examinations of Socio-Cultural Contexts and Environmental & Soil Characteristics for urban and rural districts, including Sylhet and Bhola, provided forward-looking planning frameworks aimed at creating resilient and sustainable human settlements, contributing directly to SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities).
