POST GRADUATE SEMINAR SERIES Seminar on “Long Term Evolution (LTE)” & “Analysis of Renewable System Using HOMER Energy Software”

Two consecutive seminars under the seminar series named “Post Graduate Seminar Series” organized by Dept. of EEE, for inspiring the students towards research held on 17th November, 2014 in AIUB Auditorium. Post-graduate students with some of the enthusiastic undergraduate students attended program. The students will be highly beneficial with this approach. Mr. Chowdhury Akram Hossain (Assistant Professor, Department of EEE & Special Assistant, OSA) hosted the seminar by welcoming the seminar attendees emphasizing on attending seminars to learn about new inventions and current technologies. After that, the esteemed speaker, Dr. Md. Abu Bakar Siddique took the first seminar on “Long Term Evolution (LTE)”. This presentation focused on elements of LTE architecture and features along advancement of wireless network. Broadband telecommunication services with LTE technology and technical standardization of LTE were emphasized and requirements of frequency band for LTE and its application in Bangladesh context is reviewed. The second seminar was taken by the esteemed speaker Mr. Kazi Firoz Ahmed on the topic “Analysis of Renewable System Using HOMER Energy Software”. Beside efficiency of a system there are many other factors like running cost, O&M cost, environmental issues, etc have to be considered during the design procedure which were discussed in the seminar. In this seminar, speaker also showed the demonstration of HOMER software which is the leading software for the analysis of renewable system. The seminar was concluded by Mr. Rinku Basak (Assistant Professor & Head, Postgraduate Program, Department of EEE) in which he thanked both the speakers for attending the seminar and talked about process of project & thesis completion and choosing right subjects from the curriculum of MEEE & MTEL. Mr. Basak also discussed about LTE and LTE advanced based on 4G communication. The seminar was graced with presence of Mr. Farhadur Arifin(Assistant Professor, Department of EEE), Mr. Amzad Ali Sarkar(Assistant Professor, Department of EEE), Mr. Md.
