On 20th March, 2016, two consecutive seminars under the seminar series named “Post Graduate Seminar Series” organized by the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, was held in Room# 266, Faculty of Engineering Building, AIUB. The seminar series was held for the second time in as many years, to inspire and encourage postgraduate students in their research work. Mr. Rinku Basak, Head, Dept. of EEE [Graduate Program] & Assistant Professor, Faculty of Engineering, AIUB; commenced the event. He welcomed the seminar attendees, asked them to keep themselves updated with the current technology and recently published journals. This was followed by a speech from Dr. Md. Abdur Rahman, Director & Associate Professor, Faculty of Engineering, AIUB; through which he talked about the importance of the seminar series. Dr. Md. Abdul Mannan, Head, Dept of EEE [Undergraduate Program] & Associate Professor, Faculty of Engineering, AIUB; then took the stage to deliver his speech, emphasizing on the objectives of the seminar series and the proper research techniques which the postgraduate students should employ.
The first seminar of the series on “Energy System Planning in a Sustainable Approach” was conducted by Dr. Md. Abu Abdullah, Assistant Professor, Dept. of EEE, AIUB. This presentation primarily focused on the integration of renewable energy sources with current and future energy systems. The seminar started with an overview on current power systems and then went on to highlight the reasons for switching from electric power systems to electric energy systems. The presentation also gave an overview of how renewable energy sources have been implemented and the possible electrical energy systems of the future. Furthermore, the seminar gave the audience a general idea of the possible research areas of the field.
The second seminar of the series on “Electronic Transport in Mesoscopic Systems and Nanoelectronics” was conducted by Dr. M. Tanseer Ali, Assistant Professor, Dept. of EEE, AIUB. The seminar started with an introduction to nanotechnology and the design specifications of nano-electronics. The speaker then went on to describe the fabrication processes regarding nano-electronics, the channel lengths of processors and difference between ballistic and non-ballistic MOSFETs. The speaker then discussed the different tools required for analyzing nano-electronic devices.
Mr. Rinku Basak then delivered the closing remarks and concluded the first day of the seminar series. The seminars were graced with the presence of Dr. Mohammad Nasir Uddin, Assistant Professor, Dept. of EEE, AIUB and Dr. Md. Anwar Hossain, Senior Assistant Professor, Dept. of EEE, AIUB and Dr. Md. Tanvir Hasan, Assistant Professor, Dept. of EEE, AIUB.
