| AIUB has already passed the Application Status and now heading for the Candidate Status in its pursuit to have its Business Programs (BBA and MBA) by an international accrediting body, PAASCU from Philippines. Preparatory to this, ‘Orientation Workshop on the Process of Institution Self-Survey’ was held in the sprawling beautifully landscaped resort of the AIUB in Sripur, Gazipur last Friday, 20 March 2009.
The Orientation Workshop was aimed at familiarizing the Chairmen and Members of the Area Subcommittees on the concept, process and application of institution Self-Survey in preparation for the actual conduct of the self-survey as a prerequisite for accreditation. Twenty five (25) participants attended the orientation workshop spearheaded by the Vice Chancellor, Dr. Carmen Z. Lamagna, the Pro Vice Chancellor, Dr. Anwar Hossain, Vice President for Academics, Dr. Tafazzal Hossain, the Vice President for Administration, Treasury and HR, Mr. Hasanul Hasan, Mr. Isthiaque Abedin, VP for International Affairs, Ms. Nadia Abedin, VP for Students Affairs, and Mr. Maksudur Sarker Rahman, AQAC Director.
The Honorable Chairman, Dr. Anwarul Abedin was also present to provide inspirational support. The UGC was represented by Ms. Jesmin Perven, Asst. Director. Dr. Charles C. Villanueva, Overall Coordinator of the Accreditation served as the Trainer. The workshop emphasized on the discussion of the concepts and process of accreditation, and the review of the self-survey instruments in each of the seven areas: Goals and Objectives, Faculty, Curriculum and Instruction, Students, Library, Research, Administration and Other Resources. The review provided an opportunity for the participants to learn the specific items used in describing the exiting conditions or situation of the university.
