ORIENTATION WORKSHOP ON QUALITY ASSURANCE AND ACCREDITATION OF COMPUTER SCIENCE AND INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY PROGRAMS

The 5 degree programs of the Faculty of Science and Information Technology (FSIT) have been applied for accreditation to PAASCU (Philippine Accrediting Association of Schools, Colleges and Universities), Quezon City, Philippines . These programs are as follows: Bachelor of Science in  Computer Science
Bachelor of Science in Computer Information System
Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and Engineering
Bachelor of Science in Software Engineering
Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and Software Engineering In preparation for the accreditation of these programs which will involve self-survey and preliminary visit of the evaluator, an orientation was conducted last 5 April 2012 with the members of the area subcommittees on Faculty, Instruction and Laboratory. The objectives of the orientation workshop were as follows:
  1. to familiarize the members of the area subcommittees on the concept, process and application of accreditation
  2. to review the contents of the institution self-survey instruments in each of the three areas: Faculty, Curriculum and Instruction and Laboratories
  3. to discuss the various activities of the accreditation process
The AIUB Quality Assurance Center (AQAC) Team composed of Prof. Dr. Charles C. Villanueva, Prof. Maksudur Rahman, Dr. ABM Rahmatullah, Mr. Bikash Barua and Mr. MD. Imran facilitated the orientation and at the same time served as discussants. The topics discussed were as follows: Overview of Quality Assurance and Accreditation ; Assessment of Faculty; Curriculum and Instruction; and Laboratory. The schedule of activities was also presented and explained to guide the subcommittee members in their work. The Vice President Academics and Dean In-Charge of FSIT welcomed all the participants and underscored the importance of accreditation and the relevant activities it has to undertake. Before Mr. Mashiour Rahman, the Department of CS delivered the Vote of Thanks, some clarificatory questions were raised by the participants and these were responded properly by the Team. Mr. Mashiour  posed a challenge to the participants to ensure the success of the accreditation of the FSIT programs.
