About The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award
The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award is a youth achievement and non-formal education framework founded in the United Kingdom in 1956 by Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh. It now operates in well over 120 countries and territories and is open to young people aged 14 to 24. The Award is voluntary and non-competitive, and has three levels: Bronze, Silver, and Gold. Participants design their own programme, set personal goals, and record their own progress across Volunteering, Physical Recreation, and Skills activities, and complete an Adventurous Journey. Those pursuing the Gold level also take part in a Residential Project. DEA began its journey at AIUB in 2008.
The ceremony marked a proud milestone for DEA–AIUB, celebrating the dedication of its current awardees while inspiring the new members to embrace the challenges ahead. The event reflects the Award’s continuing aim of helping young people build life skills, resilience, and employability alongside their academic journey.
