A seminar titled “OPEN DISCUSSION ON BANGLADESH CAPITAL MARKET” was organized by the department of Finance on Thursday, July 21, 2016 in AIUB Auditorium. Mr. Nizam Uddin Ahmed, Deputy General Manager, Product & Market Development Department, Dhaka Stock Exchange Limited, was the key resource person of the event. The seminar was jointly organized by Kashfia Sharmin, Assistant Professor, department of Finance, Md. Kamrul Bari, Assistant Professor, department of finance, and Kazi Rashedul Hasan, Assistant Professor, department of Finance and coordinated by Mohammad Faridul Alam, Assistant Professor and Head, department of Accounting and Finance. The seminar was a practical exposure for the students who are currently studying in the Accounting & Finance department in AIUB with a special focus on the students enrolled in the Corporate Finance course. The seminar imbued students with an understanding of the role and basic functions of Dhaka Stock Exchange Limited and its regular activities in the capital market of Bangladesh. Honorable Pro Vice Chancellor, Dr. Charles Villanueva, Professor and Dean, Faculty of Business Administration, was also present in the seminar. He encouraged the students to relate their theoretical understanding of the subjects studied in AIUB with the contemporary real world practice in the Industry. After the presentation, an open question and answer session took place. The questions raised by the students and faculties were responded with satisfaction and appreciation. Dr. Charles Villanueva, Professor and Dean, Faculty of Business Administration, AIUB delivered the vote of thanks to the speaker and to all those who attended the seminar and presented the Certificate of Appreciation and gift package to the speaker and concluded the seminar. After the seminar a tea session was held at the BBA Program Director’s office and a nice discussion on building the relationships between the university and the corporate world particularly that of the company represented by the guest speaker took place.
