The NILS AIUB Chapter officially held its inauguration ceremony on Wednesday, 3rd June 2026 at the Auditorium of the American International University-Bangladesh (AIUB). The program, held from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., marked the formal launch of the chapter and brought together students, academics and representatives from various NILS Bangladesh university chapters. Following the inauguration ceremony, the event continued with a workshop titled “From Legal Research to Publication: A Practical Workshop on Academic Writing and Journal Publication,” reflecting the chapter’s commitment to promoting legal research, academic excellence and professional development among law students.

Ms. Nadia Anwar, Founder Member and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of AIUB, graced the program as the Chief Guest. In her remarks, she congratulated the newly inaugurated chapter and expressed confidence that it would create meaningful opportunities for students to strengthen their academic, professional and leadership skills while making valuable contributions to the legal community.

Distinguished guests were present at the ceremony included Professor Dr. Saiful Islam, Honorable Vice Chancellor, AIUB; Professor Dr. Tazul Islam, Dean, Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, AIUB; Professor Dr. Taslima Monsoor, Advisor, Department of Law, AIUB; Dr. Mohammad Zahidul Islam Khan, Registrar, AIUB; Professor Dr. S. A. M. Manzur H. Khan, Proctor, AIUB; and Dr. Robayet Ferdous Syed, Department Head, Department of Law, AIUB. Respected faculty members of the Department of Law were also present at the ceremony.

The programme commenced with a welcome speech delivered by Ms. Rostoma Begum Chaudhury, Assistant Professor, Department of Law and Advisor, NILS AIUB Chapter, AIUB; while the event was moderated by Md. Muhtasim Faiaz, Lecturer, Department of Law and Advisor, NILS AIUB Chapter, AIUB.

A major highlight of the inauguration ceremony was the oath-taking of the Executive Committee of NILS AIUB Chapter. The oath was administered by Mr. Itminan Monir Basilis, General Secretary of NILS Bangladesh, formally marking the commencement of the chapter’s organizational and academic activities. The inauguration ceremony also provided a platform for inter-university networking and collaboration among law students representing different NILS Bangladesh chapters.

Following the inauguration, participants attended the workshop conducted by Dr. Robayet Ferdous Syed, Head of the Department of Law, AIUB. The session provided practical guidance on legal research methodologies, academic writing techniques and the process of transforming research into publishable scholarly work. Participants gained valuable insights into conducting effective legal research, developing analytical arguments and navigating academic publication processes. Speakers throughout the program emphasized the importance of research, critical thinking, academic writing and professional competence in contemporary legal education.
