MPH Students’ Field Trip
The Students of the Fall Semester 2011-12 of the Department of Public Health, American International University – Bangladesh (AIUB) visited Dhamrai Upazila on 1 December 2011 to gain knowledge about the primary level service facilities of Health and Family Planning Directorates of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of Bangladesh. Dr. Amzad Hossain, Resident Medical Officer (RMO) of the Dhamrai Upazila Health Complex gave presentation and showed different sections of the service provision including the emergency, outpatient and inpatient facilities. Mr. Mahbub Murshed, Family Planning Officer and Dr. Iqbal Murshed, Medical Officer – Maternal Child Health (MO-MCH) gave presentation about the activities of Family Planning in the Upazila. One of the prime concerns of the visit was to acquaint the students with the fixed service facilities at different tiers such as upazila, union and village levels facilities – Upazila Health Complex (UHC), Union Health and Family and Family Welfare Centre (UH&FWC) and Community Clinic (CC). They also became familiar with the structure and mechanism of providing services at different levels as well as the types of patients receiving services from the primary level facilities. Mr. Mahidul Islam, Adjunct Faculty of the Department of Public Health accompanied the students in the field visit.
