MPH Seminar on ZIKA Virus

The Department of Public Health of American International University- Bangladesh (AIUB) organized a seminar on “ZIKA Virus - A Public Health Threat” on 11th March 2016 at the AIUB Auditorium.

The Keynote speaker of this seminar was Professor Dr. Benazir Ahmed, the Head of Parasitology, the National Institute of Preventive and Social Medicine (NIPSOM). The Pro-Vice Chancellor of AIUB, Prof. Dr. Charles C. Villanueva, Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, Prof. Dr. Tazul Islam and Prof. Dr. Nazrul Islam were also present.

Dr. Md. Aurangzeb, coordinator of MPH Program started the program with a speech and an informative video presentation on ZIKA Virus. The presentation informed about the signs and symptoms, the temporary prevention, and also the top ten factors of the ZIKA Virus. After the warm introduction, Pro-Vice Chancellor welcomed the keynote speaker Professor Dr. Benazir Ahmed.

Prof. Ahmed gave another insightful presentation on ZIKA. At first he talked about the global situation and then ended with the situation of Bangladesh. After the presentation there was a lively question answer session.

The closing speech was given by the Dean of the faculty of Arts and Social Sciences (FASS) Prof. Dr, Tazul Islam. A memorandum along with a token of appreciation was given to Prof. Dr. Benazir Ahmed and the seminar was brought to an end. The entire program was coordinated by MPH Coordinator and faculty Dr. Md. Aurangzeb.

The Department of Public Health appreciates the openhanded support given by the AIUB Management in making the seminar a huge success.
