The Department of Public Health of the American International University – Bangladesh (AIUB) organized a field trip on 25 March 2015 for the Freshers of MPH Program, Spring Semester 2014-2015 to Urban Primary Healthcare Service Delivery Project in Partnership Area-4 at Mugda, Dhaka South City Corporation. We first visited the Comprehensive Maternity Centre and then visited two spots – a Satellite Clinic and a Slum – where they provide services at the door step level. In the beginning, a briefing was given by Ms. Ruba, Project Manager, who is supported by two of her colleagues – medical doctors. After the briefing, there was a question and answer session which clearly clarified what types of services are being provided, who the beneficiaries are, arrangement of logistics, sustainability of the project and the future plan of activities. There was a threadbare discussion about the maintenance of quality of the services. At the end of the briefing, the Project Manager showed different units of the Clinic. It may be mentioned that very recently with the support of the UNFPA, an Adolescent Corner was established to provide life skill education to the adolescents. Prior to going to the Satellite Clinic and the Slum, students were divided into two groups. These groups were guided by two Medical Doctors of the Maternity Centre. Mr. Mahidul Islam, Adjunct Faculty, Department of Public Health coordinated the field trip while Dr. Md. Aurangzeb, Program Officer of the Department undertook every step to make the trip a success.
