On Monday, February 17, 2025, AIUB and Midland Bank plc signed a MoU with the aim of promoting financial literacy, primarily amongst the university’s students and faculty members. The document was signed by Mr. R. Tareque Moudud FCMA Director Office of Placement and alumni (OPA) and Mr. Rashed Akter, Head of Retail Distribution Division & Chief Bancassurance Officer, on behalf of their respective organizations.
This is the first such agreement that the Bank has signed with any University.
The main focus of the agreement is to inculcate the habit of saving and investment amongst the target audience. The financial literacy program will also cover educating students on how to protect themselves from online frauds, hacking of their accounts and other banking products.
In order to better address the subject of financial literacy, the Bank will, under the MoU
- Make available educational materials, including interactive tools linked in particular to the core purpose.
- Provision of event sponsorship for promoting financial literacy.
The signing ceremony was attended by Prof. Dr. Mohammad Faridul Alam, Director, MBA/EMBA program and Dr. Rezbin Nahar, Director, BBA Program, AIUB and Mr. Mohammad Faruq Ur Rahman, Manager, Financial Literacy Wing and Mr. Syed Saquibuzzaman, Manager, Islami Banking Department from Midland Bank plc.
The MoU signing program ended with a general discussion on the contents of the proposed financial literacy sessions. A schedule for the Bank officers to come to the university for the sessions will be rolled out soon.
