The Department of Media and Mass Communication (MMC) at the American International University-Bangladesh (AIUB) organized the sixth session of its Journalism, Media and Animation Studies (JMAS) seminar series, titled “Career in Advertising Industry in Bangladesh: Skills That Get You Hired.” The seminar was held on Wednesday, 10th September 2025, at the Seminar Room, Annex 3, AIUB, and aimed to guide students on career prospects in the advertising industry.

Mr. A.S.M. Maruf Kabir, Managing Director of Visual Communication Limited and a veteran Communication Strategist with over 27 years of experience, was the invited speaker. In his lecture, Mr. Kabir highlighted essential skills such as creativity, adaptability, strategic planning, critical thinking, and audience focus, emphasizing that advertising goes beyond brand promotion to shaping consumer behavior, culture, and values. He also discussed consumer psychology, audience segmentation, ATL and BTL advertising, the role of social media and mobile platforms, and the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in campaigns.

The seminar was attended by Prof. Dr. Saiful Islam, Vice Chancellor of AIUB; Prof. Dr. Tazul Islam, Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences; Dr. AJM Shafiul Alam Bhuiyan, Advisor of the MMC Department; Ms. Rani Ellen V. Ramos, Head of the MMC Department; faculty members from MMC and other departments; and students across the university.

The program was organized and anchored by Mst. Nasrin Akter, Assistant Professor of MMC Department. It concluded with a lively question and answer session, where students engaged with the speaker on the challenges and opportunities of pursuing a career in advertising
