Marketing Students’ Organization Visit to Walton Hi-Tech Industries Ltd.

Thursday 27 November 2014 As a part of the regular student development program, the Department of Marketing, FBA, AIUB organized a study tour to Walton Hi-Tech Industries Ltd., Gazipur on November 15, 2014. Students from the Marketing Major courses of ‘Sales Management’ and ‘Brand & Product Management’ went to visit the organization to get some real life insights about the factory operations, branding, sales & distribution processes of the organization. Walton, a renowned brand of consumer electronics and motorcycles manufacturer, is a fully owned state-of- the-art Bangladeshi company operating and selling products in Bangladesh and exporting their products to many countries in South Asian market. Walton Hi-Tech Industries Ltd. comprises of business units like refrigerator and freezer units, air conditioner units, motorcycle units, kitchen and home appliance units and other lines of consumer electronics. Upon arrival at the Walton Hi-Tech Industries Ltd., Mr. Sohel Rana, Sr. Asst. Director, HRM, PR & Admin Dept, who is also an Alumnus of AIUB, greeted the students and the faculty members. He assisted the students to visit the Refrigerator & Freezer, Air Conditioner and Motorcycle units with the assistance from Mr. Md. Sohabbat Ali & Mr. Kaisarul Islam, AGM, HRM, PR & Admin Dept. The respective line supervisors were also present at that moment and briefed the students about the line operations and supply chain processes. After the completion of the respective visit, Lt. Col (Rtd) Md. Abdul Kader, First Sr. Additional Director, Head of HRM, PR & Admin Dept. accompanied the students during snacks refreshment followed by a vote of thanks. It is important to note that, he is also an Alumnus of AIUB. Mr. Mohammad Yousuf Ali, Deputy Director, General Section was also present at that time. At the closing, the faculty members also expressed their vote of appreciation to the personnel of Walton Hi-Tech Industries Ltd. and presented gift packs respectively on behalf of AIUB. Mr. Hamidul Islam, Asst. Professor and Mr. Stanley Rodrick, Asst. Professor, from the Dept. of Marketing took the lead initiatives and organized the trip under the direct guidance of Dr. Ehsan Uddin Ahmed, Associate Dean, FBA and Head, Dept. of Marketing with coordination from Mr. Mahmud Habib Zaman, Asst. Professor & Ms. Nazia Farhana, Lecturer of the same Dept. and Mr. Md. Al-Mamun, Executive, Administration of AIUB. The Dept. of Marketing, FBA would like to thank and acknowledge Prof. Dr. Charles C. Villanueva, Pro Vice Chancellor & Dean, FBA and Mr. Manzur H. Khan, Director, Office of Student Affairs, for their cordial and valuable support in making this visit an interesting and memorable one for both the students and faculty members.
