Marketing Students’ Organization Visit to Akij Food & Beverage Ltd.
Department of Marketing, FBA, AIUB organized a study tour to Akij Food & Beverage Ltd. (AFBL) Factory, Dhamrai on November 20, 2014, as a part of the regular student development program. Students from the Marketing Major courses of ‘Brand & Product Management’ & ‘Sales Management’ went to visit the organization to get some real life insights about the factory operations, branding, sales & distribution processes of the organization.
AFBL is a business concern from one of the country’s renowned conglomerate, AKIJ Group. AFBL is one of the country’s leading Food & Beverage manufacturing companies and selling products in Bangladesh and exporting their products to many countries in South Asian Market. Some of the product lines of AFBL include Fruit Drinks, Carbonated Beverages, Mineral Water, Pasteurized Milk and Chips. Brands like Frutika, Mojo, Lemu, Clemon, Speed, Spa, Farm Fresh Milk, O’ Potato, etc. are some of the renowned Brands of AFBL.
Upon arrival at the AFBL Factory premises, Mr. Md. Sadibur Rahman Khan, Event Management Officer, greeted the students and the faculty members. The visitors were accompanied to a brief session about the Product Line Information, Brand, Promotion, Sales and Supply Chain Strategies by Mr. Alif Al Md. Shalahuddin, Senior Executive, Brand Marketing. After the session, the students were divided into 3 groups and visited the Factory Lines of Frutika, Mojo and Speed Energy Drink. The respective line supervisors were also present at that moment and briefed the students about the production process and distribution techniques.
After the completion of the respective factory visits, Mr. S. M. Aynul Islam, Manager (Quality Assurance) briefed the visitors about the factory operations and quality assurance procedures followed in the AFBL Factory followed by a vote of thanks. At the closing, the faculty members also expressed their vote of appreciation to the personnel of AFBL and presented gift packs respectively on behalf of AIUB. The faculty members also gave special thanks to Mr. Mohammad Khalid Hossain, Executive Secretary to Director, to co-ordinate and make the necessary arrangements for this study tour.
Mr. Stanley Rodrick, Asst. Professor, and Mr. Hamidul Islam, Asst. Professor, from the Dept. of Marketing took the lead initiatives in organizing the trip under the guidance of Dr. Ehsan Uddin Ahmed, Associate Dean, FBA and Head, Dept. of Marketing. The following faculty members also provided assistance to ensure the safety and success of the study tour: Mr. Mahmud Habib Zaman, Mr. Saihad Shahid Rahman, Ms. Shahnaz Zarin Haque & Mr. Md. Golam Mostofa.
