A corporate session titled 'Rules, Policies and Practical Implementation of Corporate Governance of Banking sector in Bangladesh' has been held on 25/07/2016 which was organized by the Department of Finance and the target audiences of the seminar are the students of the course Corporate Governance. By this session, students got an opportunity to connect their academic knowledge with corporate world. The key Speaker was Mr. Md. Jahir uddin (Piyal), Vice President & Head of Branch, United Commercial Bank (UCB), Tejgaon Branch and it was arranged by Kashfia Sharmeen, Assistant Professor, Department of Finance, Faculty of Business Administration. The main purpose of this corporate session is to give a collective idea how corporate governance implement in private banks accordance to the requirement of the central bank of Bangladesh. This issue is very relevant to the course curriculum and also will add value to their final project which is merely based on topic accounted for the corporate governance execution by 40 schedule of in Bangladesh.  Mr. Jahir discussed his 25 years experiences with real world banking know-how in an very efficient manner so that students could able to understand why and how corporate governance needs to employ in an organization. He talked about independent directors and board’s accountability towards shareholders which give student the essence of how important the shareholder’s right is for an organization. As corporate governance is relatively a new concept in Bangladesh, this practical corporate session will be really helpful for the students for deciding their future path.
