Lecture on How to Conduct Research

On October 7, 2021, the Department of Computer Science, AIUB organized the 3rd Session of the Computing Lecture Series. The session was conducted through online platform MS Teams at 2:00PM. The aim of the Computing Lecture series is to share and discuss research works of faculty members of computer science within the department in order to stay up to date with the current research trends. In addition, this type of event assists early-stage researchers and young faculty members of the department particularly, so that they can engage themselves with the experienced researchers of the department to better organize and structure their research activities.

In this 3rd session, the research talk was presented by Prof. Dr. Tabin Hasan (Head, Graduate Program, Dept. of Computer Science). Prof. Dr. Tabin Hasan has extensive knowledge and experience on research works, especially in the field of Human Computer Interaction. As an experienced researcher, he presented his research talk on “How to Conduct Research”. During the presentation, Prof. Dr. Tabin Hasan mainly focused on the research methodologies for supervising a research-based thesis in a proper manner. In support of this research talk, Prof. Dr. Tabin Hasan discussed different examples and shared his experience to illustrate the presented topic.

There was a lively discussion session after the presentation where faculty members actively participated with their thoughts and views on “How to Conduct Research”, particularly in the direction of different research methodologies and approaches for supervising a research-based thesis.

The event was graced by the presence of Associate Professor Mr. Mashiour Rahman (Associate Dean, FST) and Prof. Dr. Dip Nandi (Director, FST). On behalf of Computer Science Department, the session was moderated by Dr. Akinul Islam Jony (Assistant Professor, Department of Computer Science).
