On April 8th, 2012, a launching Seminar of the various services of the Department of Guidance Council was held at the Auditorium at 4 PM. The seminar aimed to introduce students to begin to have an introspective view of their University life and to seek an array of services that the University provides for them, in which the Department of Guidance Council is a part of. The seminar also addressed some common issues that arise for students while attending the university; like, healthy habits, a positive social network, friend circles and good study habits, etc. Dr. Charles C Villanueva, Dean, Faculty of Business Administration delivered the welcome speech to the students and faculty members highlighting the need and importance of these services. Ms. Maya Almuqtadir of Department of Guidance Council later conducted a presentation covering the areas of services from this department, like personal counseling, group counseling, and prompt response to emergency situations. Personal counseling can help students improve their lives and deal with issues that are creating problems for them at the university. Group counseling can help students work together to address shared problems, develop skills, and become more confident, healthy, and successful in their studies. Soon all information handouts and documents will also be available in the homepage of AIUB.
