Launching of the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award (DEA) at AIUB

The launching program of The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award at AIUB was held on March 23, 2009 at 11 a.m. in the Auditorium of Campus 1 of AIUB. The program started with the welcome speech by Isha Mannan, AIUB participant of DEA. After that, the National Director of DEA Foundation of Bangladesh, Mr. Suman Kumar Saha gave an introduction to the award program. Then the specials guests Ms. Sue Walker (Director, Asia Pacific of The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award Association) and Mr. James Soh (Honorary Adviser, Asia Pacific of The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award Association) gave valuable information about DEA. Our honorable Vice Chancellor Dr. Carmen Z. Lamagna also gave a speech on this occasion and thanked everybody concerned for their role in the DEA program at AIUB. The first batch of DEA participants at AIUB shared their experiences in the Adventurous Journey program which was held at AIUB Resort at Sripur, Gazipur. The program ended with a concluding speech of DEA Award Leader at AIUB Mr. Abdul K. Nazmul (Coordinator, Office of Sports). Later our honorable Vice Chancellor Dr. Carmen Z. Lamagna presented the AIUB souvenirs to the special guests. Besides others, Pro-Vice Chancellor of AIUB Dr. Anwar Hossain, and DEA Award Leader at AIUB, Mr. Manzur H. Khan (Coordinator, Office of Student Affairs) was also present. A lot of students and teachers of AIUB were present during this launching program.
