Launching of Animation Education Program and Lab

The American International University-Bangladesh (AIUB) and Truemax Academy-Denmark jointly launched the first animation education program in the country, with the support of Danida (Danish International Development Agency) and the Royal Danish Embassy in Bangladesh. A launching ceremony was held on Monday at the AIUB Campus-7 on December 19, 2012. The event was inaugurated by Danish Ambassador to Bangladesh Svend Olling as the chief guest, while AIUB Vice Chancellor Dr. Carmen Z. Lamagna presided over it. The chief guest appreciated the initiative of the private university in setting up two well-equipped animation labs for the training purpose, consisting of Dell T1650 Computers, Wacom Intuos 5, Dell 22 inch Wide Screen Monitors, etc. Ed Alcanzare - Emcee presented the brief outline about the program. In the event, a brief outline about the animation program was presented. A number of faculty deans, teachers, officials and students of AIUB, representatives from Danida, Truemax and electronic and print media personnel were also present on the occasion. Speakers expressed their hope that this type of program would help underpin the country’s journey towards digitization and support the increasing global demand for digital arts. Noted Danish digital artist Steve Townsend of the Truemax Academy is the trainer of the animation project. This is the first program related to animation education in Bangladesh.
