ISO 9001:2008 Certification Process Takes Off Today

The American International University-Bangladesh (AIUB) is undergoing certification process with Pre-Assessment Audit today in the Research Center, AQAC Bldg. Mr. Mahfuz Shabab, SGS Auditor is conducting the pre-assessment audit. He was also the one who conducted the 2-day Training Program for the Key Officers of AIUB and the AQAC Team on this project.  The SGS Company is a worldwide organization based in Switzerland and has more than 100 branches all over the world. It should be noted that AIUB will be the first educational institution in Bangladesh to be certified by SGS. This is an honor to be the model for SGS here in Bangladesh.

The Pre-Assessment Audit is basically document based with few random interview with the Key Officers for clarification purposes. Some recommendations maybe propounded and will be complied with as soon as possible so that AIUB can move on to the 1st Stage Audit which  will take place in SGS. After another intensive review of the documents, the 2nd Stage will take place in about 6 months. This will be conducted in AIUB to include ocular visit of the different offices and interview of the management. In God’s Will (Inshallah) AIUB will be granted by SGS the ISO 9001:2008 Certification  with a Scope: AIUB Quality Management Operation System.

Someone might ask, what is the difference between PAASCU Accreditation and SGS ISO Certification? The Accreditation is a process of determining quality and excellence in the academic programs of  an educational institution while ISO 9001:2008 Certification is a process of determining the quality management operation system of an organization. This is operationally the context of these two processes as applied in AIUB.
