| The VC attended the board meeting On June 23-24, 2010 of the International Association of Universities (IAU) hosted by the Mykolas Romeris University (MRU). On June 25-26, 2010, an international conference on “Ethics and Values in higher education in the era of Globalization: What Role for the Disciplines?” were jointly organized by the IAU and the MRU. The conference addressed the broad questions of ethics and values in higher education with institutional leaders as well as academics and researchers from all disciplines. The objective is to compare and contrast, and to find commonalities and bridges between the various discipline-specific concerns and challenges when it comes to upholding ethical considerations and promoting values-based higher education. Participants were able to enrich themselves on the disciplinary approaches and experiences, and perhaps, able to contribute to a more global code of ethics for higher education.
The VC was an invited speaker in a parallel session entitled “Survival or revival? – Higher Education values across Time and Culture”.
