An industry university dialogue on Rural Marketing was organized by the Center for Development and Competitive Strategies Ltd. (CDCS) at AIUB with support from Katalyst on 9 July 2012. The dialogue was participated in by industry leaders, experts, faculty members and students.
Mr. Ruhul Quddus (Executive Director, RSF), Mr. A.H.M. Sultanur Reja (Head of Broadband Internet, GP) Md. Rasedul Hasan (COO, PCL.) were the key speakers from the private sector. From AIUB, Dr. Charles C. Villanueva (Dean, FBA) and Dr. Ehsanul Huda Chowdhury (Associate Dean, FBA) spoke on the occasion. Ms. Syeda Farzana Morshed (MD, CDCS)) and Mr. Mushfiqur Rahim (Senior Group Manager, Katalyst) explained their collective initiative on enrichment of rural marketing course with local learning contents. Mr. Sheikh Morshed Jahan (Lead Consultant, RMC) chaired the program.
The speakers mainly concentrated on the importance of rural marketing and why and how it is different from the conventional marketing. The experts from the industry shared their illustrious practical experiences involving marketing for rural audience. The facilitating panel of CDCS and Katalyst explained its ongoing drive for enrichment of the rural marketing course through development of Bangladesh-focused cases, while the AIUB FBA team shared information about how the RMC course was introduced in AIUB and the progress they have made ever since.
