On Thursday, August 06, 2026, the Faculty of Engineering (FE), with the support of IEOM AIUB Student Chapter, organized an industrial visit to Dockyard and Engineering Works (DEW) Ltd. in Sonakanda, Bandar, Narayanganj. 24 students from the Department of Industrial and Production Engineering (IPE) at AIUB participated in the visit under the guidance of Dr. Mohammad Tauhiduzzaman, Assistant Professor and Dipto Chakrabarti, Lecturer, Faculty of Engineering, AIUB. The tour was arranged to provide students with practical exposure to industrial operations and engineering practices.

Upon arrival, the participants were warmly welcomed by the DEW officials at the auditorium, where they were introduced to the organization through a presentation highlighting DEW's history, capabilities, major projects, and achievements. Following the introductory session, the students were accompanied by Md. Abdus Salam, Sergeant; Al Amin Prodhan, Assistant Engineer; and Bulbul Ahmed, Assistant Engineer; who guided them throughout the industrial visit.

During the tour, the students explored four major departments of DEW- Administration, Production, Planning and Design, and Accounts. The accompanying engineers and officials explained departmental functions, operational workflows, and engineering practices while answering students' queries, enabling them to relate their academic knowledge to real industrial applications.

At the conclusion of the visit, on behalf of AIUB, Dr. Mohammad Tauhiduzzaman and Dipto Chakrabarti presented gift packs as tokens of appreciation to Commander Md Mostofa Kamal, (TAS), BN, DGM (Admin, Training & Welfare); Md. Jakiul IslamExecutive Engineer (Mechanical), Production Department; Md. Tareq Hossain, Store Officer; and Ashraful Alam, Office Assistant, DEW. The industrial tour provided an enriching learning experience, strengthening the students' understanding of engineering operations and industrial management while bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application.
