IEEE AIUB Student Branch organized an industrial tour for the members to Energypac Engineering Ltd. The tour was held on 26th May 2012. The location was the manufacturing, testing, research and development facility located at Baruipara, Savar, Dhaka.
Faculty members from EEE department Dr. Md. Abdul Mannan, Mr. Abrar Faisal, Mr. S.M. Ferdous, Mr. Mahir Asif Mohammed and Mr. Arman Riaz Ochi accompanied 55 enthusiastic students in the tour.
Energypac is one of the leading power engineering companies in Bangladesh. Since its venture in 1981 Energypac has come a long way and today is at the forefront of manufacturing in the power sector.
Industrial tours are essential in familiarizing students with the various industrial processes and this tour was no exception. On arrival students were greeted and briefed by the engineering staff. The students were then divided into two teams and were given guided tours of the whole plant by an experienced and capable team of engineers.
IEEE AIUB Student Branch would like to thank Mr. Asif Islam for making the tour possible. Brief Description of the Facility:
The facility is located at a distance of about 24km to the northwest of Dhaka City covering a total area of 288,000 square feet. The state of the art modern manufacturing facility which is presumed to be the largest of its kind in the eastern part of south-east Asia contains various plants, testing facilities, warehouses and logistic supports. The mammoth manufacturing process requires total harmony between the numerous machines and equipments and a workforce numbering around 800 of which 30 are graduate engineers, 50 diploma engineers and 95% technical people.
