INAUGURATION OF THE CAMPUS TEMPLE AT THE AMERICAN INTERNATIONAL UNIVERSITY – BANGLADESH (AIUB)

Secularism has long been a strong belief at the American International University – Bangladesh (AIUB). Opening its hearts and gates to students and staff from different ethnic backgrounds, races, and of course, religion, AIUB has always welcomed everyone into their family. And it is with that very notion, that the campus not only houses a Mosque for its Muslim community, but even accommodated a Prayer Room for the Buddhist, a Church for the Christians, and inaugurated a Temple for its Hindu Community today. The honorable High Commissioner of India, H.E Mr. Harsh Vardhan Shringla, graced the occasion with his presence, along with his respected delegation from the embassy. He was received by the Vice Chancellor, Dr. Carmen Z. Lamagna, the Founder Member, Treasurer, and Vice President of Human Resources & Administration, Dr. Hasanul A. Hasan, and the Founder Member and Vice President of Student Affairs, Mrs. Nadia Anwar, together with the various Deans and Directors of the university. After the inaugural ceremony, a religious prayer was offered according to Hindu customs, in which both students and staff of the community participated wholeheartedly. H.E Mr. Shringla was then taken on a campus tour, where he visited the modern science and engineering laboratories, the classrooms throughout the annex buildings, and finally the newly set-up library, where he generously donated a number of books to the university. The honorable High Commissioner expressed his gratitude towards the university, as did the management for his valuable time, and looked forward towards working together in future endeavors with the institution in the long run.
