IEEE User-Awareness Session – 2024 held at AIUB

On Monday, 27th May 2024, American International University-Bangladesh successfully hosted an informative seminar titled “IEEE USER-AWARENESS SESSION-2024”. The goal of this seminar was to inform attendees on IEEE resources and how to use them for research and career advancement.

The event was inaugurated with a warm welcoming elocution of Prof. Dr. ABM Siddique Hossain, Dean, Faculty of Engineering, AIUB. He at first praised the speaker for his achievements and then engaged in a comprehensive discussion on IEEE and its significance. Then, the floor was taken by the esteemed speaker of the session Mr. Ranbir S Sedhey, IEEE International Client Service Manager. The speaker discussed the reasons for holding IEEE sessions and touched upon various other platforms within IEEE. He spoke about his efforts to raise awareness about IEEE and emphasized the organization's 140 years of existence. In addition, he discussed various publications such as journals, hybrid journals, and eBooks, as well as IEEE eLearning and free resources. He also mentioned access to patent citations, Google Scholar CASA, IEEE Xplore features, and remote access. Moreover, he highlighted the opportunities to participate in webinars and access the Journal Citation Report. The speaker also mentioned that there have been 2000 IEEE conferences hosted worldwide, and he discussed the IEEE Standard Association and popular topics within IEEE. He talked about access to journals and conferences through Nokia's Bell Labs technical and collaborations with AIUB, their journal publications, and IEEE conferences. He demonstrated live use of IEEE Xplore, discussed climate change research and featured articles within IEEE, and mentioned IEEE Collabratec, author profiles, advanced search features, and IEEE DATAPORT.

The seminar highlighted its contribution to several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including SDG 4 (Quality Education) through its educational platforms and resources, SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure) through its long history and innovation-promoting activities, SDG 13 (Climate Action) by raising awareness on climate change research, and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) by fostering collaborations with organizations like Nokia's Bell Labs, AIUB, and IEEE Standard Association.

The session began at 12:00 PM and ended around 1:00 PM. A total of 60+ participants attended the seminar. This seminar was supported by IEEE AIUB Student Branch.
