IEEE AIUB Student Branch recently organized a social tour for its members marking the end of activities for the 2011 academic year. The tour was held on 24th December, 2011. It was a chance for the new members to get acquainted with existing members plus a chance to blow off steam after a long hard semester. The tour was held at Padma Resort located in Munshiganj, a good 50 kilometers from AIUB campus at Banani. Three faculty members from EEE dept, Mr. Chowdhury Akram Hossain, Counselor IEEE AIUB Student Branch, Mr. Abrar Faisal and Mr. A.K.M. Arifuzzaman joined the students on this year’s tour. A total of 54 students along with faculty members from EEE dept set off from the engineering department on a cold winter morning journey to the banks of the Padma River, from there was a boat ride to the actual resort. The day’s events started off with a warm breakfast followed by various games including Darts, Tug of war, Pot Breaking- a game where one is blindfolded and guided by friends onto targets that have to be smashed. This was followed by a leisurely boat ride on the scenic Padma River. After lunch, a football match was held where members split into two groups to fight for the Cup. The events ended with a raffle draw after which a prize giving ceremony ensued with prizes being distributed among the winners.
