On 9^th February, 2017, IEEE AIUB Student Branch organized the “IEEE Members’ Orientation 2017” at the Auditorium, FBA Building, AIUB. The goal of the event was to introduce IEEE and all the benefits that come with the membership to new members of 2017.

The event begun with the opening speeches from honorable Prof. Dr. A.B.M Siddique Hossain, Dean, Faculty of Engineering; Advisor, IEEE AIUB Student Branch who inspired the students to get the benefits of IEEE. Then, Prof. Dr. Md. Abdur Rahman, Director, Faculty of Engineering, AIUB; Advisor, IEEE AIUB Student Branch welcomed the new member and congratulated the executive team of 2016 for achieving national and international awards. Finally Prof. Dr. Md. Abdul Mannan, Head (Undergraduate Program), Faculty of Engineering, AIUB took the stage and talked about the benefits of being an IEEE member. Later Dr. M. Tanseer Ali, Counselor, IEEE AIUB Student Branch & Assistant Professor, Faculty of Engineering, AIUB presented the token of appreciation to them on behalf of the branch.

After a small video presentation, Shabab Iqbal, Webmaster (2016), IEEE AIUB Student Branch, took the stage and provided his broad and detailed presentation on IEEE. During his presentation he covered everything starting from the history of IEEE to how all the Regions are distributed and classified. Following him was, Thasina Tabashum, WIE Volunteer (2016), IEEE AIUB Student Branch, who talked about the exclusive competitions that are available to the members, namely the IEEE madC and IEEE Xtreme. Later to take the stage was Nasim Al Islam, Treasurer (2016), IEEE Young Professionals Bangladesh Section; Lecturer, Faculty of Engineering, AIUB, who talked about his contribution to the branch and also answered a couple of questions from the new members. Then, Fakrul Islam Tushar, Chair (Chapters and Affinity Group Development, 2016), Ms. Farhana Alam, Chair (2016), IEEE AIUB WIE Affinity Group, Mr. Nahid Hasan, Secretary (2016) & Md. Jubaear Alam, Chair (2016) of IEEE AIUB Student Branch, talked about what IEEE meant to them and how the entire journey throughout the years have helped them in the professional world.

Afterward the raffle draw was carried out by Mr. Shams Shad Rafi, Chair, IEEE Young Professionals Bangladesh Section. Finally, Chowdhury Akram Hossain, Secretary (2017), IEEE Bangladesh Section; Advisor, IEEE AIUB Student Branch; Senior Assistant Professor, Faculty of Engineering and Special Assistant (OSA), AIUB and Md. Saniat Rahman Zishan, Newsletter Coordinator (2016), IEEE Bangladesh Section; Advisor, IEEE AIUB Student Branch, Senior Assistant Professor, Faculty of Engineering and Special Assistant (OSA), AIUB took the stage and announced the new executive board for the year 2017 and introduced them to the new members of the year 2017 and then finally concluded the event with a photo session.

The event was graced by the presence of Mr. Tawsif Ibne Alam, Lecturer, Faculty of Engineering, AIUB; Mr. Md.
